چکیده

We present a surface texture and microstructure extraction system to provide added realism in visualiza-tion and virtual reality applications. The system uses multiple images, 3-D models and camera information, in addition to knowledge about man-made structures, to cope with problems such as perspective distortion, data deeciency, and corruption caused by shadows and occlusions. Combined with the Ascender site modeling system 3] and scene rendering algorithms, the system is typically useful for urban site model reenement and visualization.

A System for Surface Texture and Microstructure Extraction from Multiple Aerial Images

Building surfaces with textures and microstructures provide important information for many military and civilian applications. The extraction of the information from aerial imagery is diicult due to problems such as perspective distortion, data deeciency, and corruption caused by shadows and occlusions. In this paper we present a Surface Texture and Microstructure Extraction (STME) system to de...

Parking lot analysis and visualization from aerial images

We propose an elevation-based approach to parking lot structure analysis from aerial imagery. In contrast to image-based methods, the new approach treats parked vehicles as 3-D microstructures and attempts to locate them in the elevation domain. The STME (Surface Texture and Microstructure Extraction) system is applied to the elevation map to extract the 3-D microstructures. A hybrid applicatio...

Integration of Deep Learning Algorithms and Bilateral Filters with the Purpose of Building Extraction from Mono Optical Aerial Imagery

The problem of extracting the building from mono optical aerial imagery with high spatial resolution is always considered as an important challenge to prepare the maps. The goal of the current research is to take advantage of the semantic segmentation of mono optical aerial imagery to extract the building which is realized based on the combination of deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) an...

Final Project Report Fall 2004 ECE598YM Constraints on Multiple Apparent Contours and Edge Feature Based 3d Reconstruction

Apparent contours or silhouettes contain information about the object’s geometry and camera motions. Silhouettes alone can be used to recognize objects [3] or estimate camera motions [2]. Furthermore, 3d shape of an object can be easily approximated from silhouettes by computing the Visual Hull [1]. However, extracting silhouettes is difficult and human intervention is often necessary. There ar...

Extracting Semantically Annotated 3d Building Models with Textures from Oblique Aerial Imagery

This paper proposes a method for the reconstruction of city buildings with automatically derived textures that can be directly used for façade element classification. Oblique and nadir aerial imagery recorded by a multi-head camera system is transformed into dense 3D point clouds and evaluated statistically in order to extract the hull of the structures. For the resulting wall, roof and ground ...
